Engage Africa

In our daily discourse when we talk or think about the foreign relations of Pakistan with other countries we usually think about India, China, U.S.A, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. Relations with other states normally have been considered as less important for us and least of those are the African countries. African continent consists of at least 54 countries and yet we do not show any concern about our relations with those countries. This depicts our sheer carelessness and ignorance. African continent does has image problem. African countries have been traditionally been considered as instable, warn torn and not important enough to see them as diplomatic and trade wise important. This scenario has changed and is changing continuously. Countries have grown very much and have established a kind internal stability with varying degrees. African countries have grown economically now the combined economic size of top 10 African countries is upto 2 trillion USD with Nigeria and South Africa o

Current Political Situation its reasons and solutions

When weather is becoming cold political atmosphere has become hot. Combination of poor governance and political turmoil is potent one. Current situation seems to be having both. Recent APC has clearly unnerved the government. Nawaz Sharif went further and attacked the real power holders through his speeches. Those speeches have largely been responded by government’s spokes persons as anti-state or by labelling some opponents as traitors. Power holders have also tried to discredit the opposition’s allegations by announcing their meeting with members of opposition parties. Some opponents have been called by NAB especially after the APC. The so called PDM (Pakistan Democratic Movement) has announced its leadership and its timetable for processions. So see that if they will be able to get sizeable crowd on streets and if they do then it will create more problems for the government politically and from governance aspect. Reasons                      Let’s come to the reasons due which

Different aspects of China Iran Deal

Politics is the game of power and to gain power you should have power. Machiavelli stressed only on power but timing for the use of power is also very important and realistically international politics is too much dependant on these factors. In these times only China has that power(economic and military) to pursue its policy completely even if it is confronting U.S. Last week there came the conformation of big deal between China and Iran. China seems to have hit the iron when it is extremely hot. Estimated size of the deal is 400 billion US Dollars which China will invest(pure investment and loans) in Iran through different projects which will provide a breathing space to Iran in the bad economic situation. Iran is facing very difficult situation after the Trump administration slapped sanctions on it and irrespective of contradicting stance of some Europeon nations they couldnot help the Iranian government and they just followed the U.S policy. Covid pandemic has made things much worse

Asad Umar A Scapegoat!

Today news of removal of Asad Umar as finance minister came as a shock. Though there were rumors about it but I was not expecting this and definitely not so early. Now he has submitted his resignation. Now the question is that: Was this the right decision to make?? My answer is NO and I will present my case in this piece. Now delve into all the circumstances which compelled IK to do this. Starting from his performance, his performance was not bad as it got pictured on media by the brigade of anchors on tv daily 7-11pm. He did what needs to be done at that emergency level, he took tough decisions which are unpopular i.e hike in the electricity, gas, petrol prices. He was doing all the firefighting stuff which needs to be done. One can question the delay in the decision of going to IMF and his own contradictory statements (related to that after getting some loan from friendly countries). Root causes of this decision are different and one of them is internal party politic
Difficulties for PTI Elections 2018 are drawing nearer and now the million dollar question is that who will win the elections and answer will be given by people on 25 July but we know that the road to Islamabad goes through the Punjab. In Punjab there are only two main contenders PML-N and PTI. PPP is the past and is now almost wiped out of Punjab. PML-N has ruled Punjab for continuously 10 years. Both PML-N and PTI are confident that they will get most of the seats from Punjab as they did in previous elections but PTI failed in doing that. After 5 years ground realities have changed and position of PTI has improved somehow but they still have countless number of problems to face.                                    Last time PTI contested elections under the slogan of Naya-Pakistan. They will bring new and honest people as their candidates. This narrative attracted many people specially youngsters towards it esp

Clash of Asian Titans

If you browse through the latest headlines about the now month-long border stand-off between India and China, you might think the Asian rivals are teetering on the brink of an armed conflict. The rhetoric is full of foreboding and menace. A Delhi newspaper says China is warning that the stand-off "could escalate into full-scale conflict". Another echoes a similar sentiment, saying "China stiffens face-off posture". In Beijing, the state-run media has begun  reminding India of its defeat in the 1962 war over the border , digging out old reports and pictures of the conflict.  Global Times  has been particularly bellicose, first accusing India of undermining Bhutan's sovereignty by interfering in the road project, and then declaring that if India "stirs up conflicts in several spots, it must face the consequences of all-out confrontation with China". The latest row erupted in mid-June when India opposed China's attempt to extend a b
